![]() Initially, I was nervous that I wouldn’t get as much out of it because it had been moved online, but I feel like I’m having a really fulfilling experience. This internship has ended up being more than I ever expected it to be. Was this internship what you expected it to be? This gives me a better idea of how the company functions as a whole, as well as an idea of different work I would like to try in the future. I’ve gotten to learn about so many different aspects of the company and seen the work that other people in the company do as well. I feel like my internship hasn’t simply been limited to just my project or my team. I think the most rewarding part of my internship is that I get to work with so many different people while learning a lot of new programs. What is most rewarding about your internship? ![]() I felt like the position I was applying for was different than anything I’d ever done before, so I was excited at the possibility of learning something new. I’ve always been interested in Sonos as a company, and I knew I wanted to work in the entertainment/tech industry. I’m automating tests for the iOS app that is used to control the speakers. I’ve been working on the Interaction Experience Partners team as a tester. Sonos is a sound company that makes speakers. I’ll let you in on a little secret, I do not like coffee but it was worth it. I was not like any other applicant trying to find an internship I was a motivated, strong individual who put in 110% to achieve what I wanted - to work at Sonos.Īfter that talk over coffee, I received a call from Sonos and the rest is history. This would show him that I was genuinely interested. I wanted to talk to him and ask him questions about Sonos over coffee at Starbucks. The next thing I did was email the software test manager a month later, and I expressed my interest, again, as a intern at Sonos. I needed to do something that nobody usually does. I knew if I really wanted this to happen I needed to stand out from the rest. I was not promised anything that day, and I was not satisfied with the results. In the next few days, I received that phone call, and the interview happened. I would be interviewed by their software test manager. HR told me that they were going to start an internship program and I would be eligible to apply. It was HR telling me that they indeed received my emails and I was not being ignored. A month passed, two months passed, and still nothing. I emailed the CEO again and kindly said I wanted to work as an intern for his company. A month passed, two months passed, but nothing. I emailed him my resume and expressed a strong interest to work as a software intern for Sonos. Was I going to dare to email the CEO? Yes. Next thing I knew I was searching for an email, any email on the site. I was bummed out, but I did not let that stop me. They had zero internship opportunities available. But how? I went through their job site and found nothing. I just needed to apply and make it happen. I knew that my next internship was going to be with them. I stumbled upon their website and immediately fell in love with their speakers and their technology. I was a sophomore at Santa Barbara City College, and I just had learned about a local start up in town called Sonos.
